Terms of purchase
The short version: you pay $1, you get a numbered screw with your name on it in a wall in Denmark, and a card to prove it. The long version is below, because there has to be one.

1. Who you are dealing with
One Million Screws is run by Techvent AI ApS, CVR 33119992, Denmark, represented by Nick Yde Larsen. Contact: hello@1millionscrews.com.
2. What you are buying
A screw is a supporter contribution with a naming right and a digital proof. For $1 you get one screw number between 1 and 1,000,000 — the lowest free number at the moment your payment goes through — your name and an optional message of up to 60 characters attached to that number in the public record once it has passed moderation, a share card and a public page for your screw, and the screw itself, physically driven into a panel in Denmark, on camera, usually within a week of your payment.
What you don’t get: the physical screw, the panel, or anything in the post. The screw stays in the wall. You are not buying property, a share, an investment, or a promise that the wall will ever be worth anything. It’s a screw.
3. Price and payment
A standard screw costs 1 US dollar. Bundles of 5, 20 and 149 screws cost $1 per screw and give you that many consecutive numbers under one name. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. Your bank may convert the amount to your local currency at its own rate. Receipts come from Stripe by email.
4. Numbering and installation
Numbers are assigned automatically, lowest free number first, at the moment Stripe confirms your payment. You can’t choose your number. Installation happens in numeric order, usually within seven days. There is one person and one drill, so that is a target, not a deadline. If we are sold out when your payment arrives, you are refunded automatically.
5. Names, messages and moderation
Everything you type is reviewed before it is shown publicly. We can reject or anonymise names and messages that are hateful, harassing, sexual or threatening, that contain other people’s personal information, that impersonate someone, or that are spam, scams or link dumps. Only use a name you are entitled to use.
If your name or message is rejected, the screw is still yours and still gets installed; the public record shows it as “Anonymous”. A rejected name is not in itself grounds for a refund, but the 14-day right below still applies. We may also anonymise an entry later if it turns out to break these rules.
6. Refunds and the 14-day right
If you are a consumer in the EU, you can change your mind within 14 days of paying, no reason needed. Email hello@1millionscrews.com with your screw number and the email you paid with. You get your dollar back through Stripe, your name comes off the record, and the number goes back in the pile. If the screw has already been driven in, it stays in the wall; we don’t un-screw. After 14 days, sales are final, though we may still refund at our own discretion.
7. If the project stops
The project ends when screw #1,000,000 goes in. If it stops earlier for any reason and your screw has not been installed yet, you get your dollar back. If it has been installed, it has been installed. What happens to the panels afterwards — museum, auction, monument or firewood — is up to us.
8. Filming and publicity
Screw numbers, names and messages that pass moderation are public: on the site, in videos, on social media and in press coverage of the project. By buying a screw you accept that your name and message may be shown in that context. You keep any rights to what you wrote; you give us a licence to show it as part of the project for as long as the project and the wall exist.
9. Liability
The site and the wall are provided as they are. We are liable for what the law says we are liable for, and not for lost bragging rights, disappointment, or the resale value of a screw, which is zero.
10. Law and disputes
Danish law applies. If you are a consumer in another EU country, the mandatory consumer protections of your own country still apply. If something is wrong, email us first; we are reasonable. Danish consumers can also complain to Center for Klageløsning, Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg (naevneneshus.dk). Consumers elsewhere in the EU can use their national consumer complaint body.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force when you paid applies to your screw.
