← One Million Screws

Privacy

We store as little as we can and show exactly what you’d expect: a number, a name, a message, a country. Here is the full list.

1. Who is responsible

Techvent AI ApS, CVR 33119992, Denmark, represented by Nick Yde Larsen, is the data controller for 1millionscrews.com. Contact: hello@1millionscrews.com.

2. What we store, per screw

The screw number; the name you typed, and the message you typed if you left one; the country of your payment method, as reported by Stripe; the amount paid, and the time of purchase and of installation; Stripe’s reference for the payment; and the moderation decision.

We do not store your email address, card number or billing address. Stripe holds those under its own privacy policy. When you write to us about a screw, we can look up the email attached to the payment in Stripe to confirm it is yours.

3. Why we use it

To deliver what you bought (contract): assign your number, show your name, install the screw, answer your emails. To keep the public record (legitimate interest, and it is the product): the wall is a record of who owns which screw. Moderation and fraud prevention (legitimate interest): names and messages are reviewed before they are shown. Bookkeeping (legal obligation): payment records are kept for five years under Danish accounting law.

4. Who sees it

Everyone, for the public part: your screw number, your name and message once approved, your country, and whether the screw is sold or installed. That appears on the site, on share cards, in videos, on social media and in press about the project, for as long as the wall exists.

Our processors, for the rest: Stripe (payments and receipts), Supabase (the database, hosted in the EU in Stockholm), Vercel (hosting and request logs), and Anthropic (an AI model may pre-screen names and messages before a human decides; only the name and message text are sent). Stripe, Vercel and Anthropic are US companies; transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. We do not sell data and we do not run advertising trackers.

5. Cookies and counting visitors

We set no tracking cookies. The “watching now” number is a random id kept in your browser tab for the length of your visit and deleted from our side 60 seconds after you close the page; it is not tied to you. Stripe’s checkout page sets its own cookies for fraud prevention, covered by Stripe’s policy.

6. How long we keep it

The public record is meant to be permanent, for as long as the project and the wall exist. Payment records are kept for five years for bookkeeping. If you ask to be anonymised, your name and message are replaced by “Anonymous” and the screw number stays.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, have your name and message anonymised or your entry erased where the law allows, restrict or object to how we use it, and get a copy. Email hello@1millionscrews.com; we answer within a month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk), or to the data protection authority in your own country.

8. Children

If you are under 18, ask whoever holds the card before you buy a screw.

9. Changes

We may update this page as the project changes. The date at the top tells you when.
